There are some families who make you feel so lucky to do what you do, and the Brokop family is definitely one of those families for me!
I have had these three in front of my camera several times over the past year, and every single session has been such a joy. They are kind, welcoming, and so trusting of me with my camera. I always leave our time together feeling grateful that I get to document their family. So when they reached out for a summer mini session, I was already excited to see them again. This session came with an extra special surprise: they were expecting their second baby, a little girl!
We could not have asked for a better evening for their announcement photos. August brought us some truly wild weather. Rainy mornings and crazy storms earlier in the month had us keeping an eye on the forecast as their session approached. Thankfully, the skies cleared and we were blessed with the most gorgeous summer sunset at Willowhaven. The light was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, and it felt like one of those evenings where everything just worked out exactly as it was supposed to.
I especially loved that they chose a simple 30-minute mini session to document this exciting announcement. You don’t need a full family session or an elaborate setup to capture such a huge milestone. Sometimes all you need is a beautiful location, the people you love most, and a little time together. A mini session can be the perfect way to document a pregnancy announcement, especially when you want a handful of beautiful images to share with family and friends or use to make your big announcement online.
And of course, I loved getting to photograph their sweet little family of three before they become a family of four. There is something so special about these in-between seasons… When you know everything is about to change, but you are still soaking in life exactly as it is right now. These photos will forever remind them of this sweet season before their family grows.
To the Brokop family – thank you for trusting me to document yet another chapter of your story. I am so excited for you as you prepare to welcome your baby girl, and I cannot wait to see this sweet family of four in front of my camera someday soon. What a beautiful announcement to photograph!
