There is something so special about getting to walk alongside a family through multiple milestones, and the Boeringa family is the sweetest example of that. After photographing their maternity session earlier this year, it was such a joy to welcome them back to the studio as a family of five this spring.
Their newest little girl is an absolute doll. She slept through most of our time together and was so content being snuggled in her family’s arms. Those calm, cozy newborn moments are always some of my favorites to capture – the quiet in-between moments, the gentle rocking, the way everyone naturally leans in just a little closer.
One thing I’ve learned after years of photographing studio newborn sessions is that an intentional flow makes all the difference… Especially for families with older siblings. I always begin with full family photos right away. This allows us to capture everyone together while the energy is fresh and attention spans are still on our side.
From there, we move into sibling photos. These are often some of the most meaningful images… Capturing the connection between brothers and sisters as they step into their new roles. Once we document those moments, the older siblings can relax, play, or be done for the day without needing to wait around.
After that, the session naturally slows down. I photograph each parent with their new baby, giving space for those individual connections and quiet moments. Then we finish with the baby alone and capture all the tiny details and sweetness that make this season so fleeting. This approach creates a relaxed, enjoyable experience for everyone involved. It also allows me to document your family in a way that feels both natural and meaningful.
