It’s that time of the year! The Pantone color of the year for 2020 is here… Classic blue!
Each year I love taking a look at the Pantone color of the year from a wedding stylistic perspective. And ummm, can I just say that I’m a big fan?! At first, I was thinking… Nope. But then I realized how versatile this color already has been and will be in the upcoming wedding season! It can be styled in so many ways when it comes to wedding decor, color palettes, and more.
Looking back on past wedding seasons and even engagement sessions, classic blue is already rocking. Oh yes, my brides were ahead of the trend! It’s refreshing to have such a classic color infused into design and wedding trends. Here are a handful of ways I think we will see classic blue in the upcoming 2020 wedding season!
1) Menswear
Okay, okay, I know this is a no brainer, but really! Classic blue is going to rock in the menswear category. From suits to ties to pocket squares to vests… I think we will see classic blue most often in menswear!
2) Bouquets
Admittedly, I wasn’t originally loving the idea of classic blue in bouquets. It wasn’t until I started looking back on so many lovely bouquets my brides have chosen that I started to fall in love! I definitely think we will see touches of blue sprinkled throughout bouquets. Especially with flowers like anemones and blue thistles!
3) Jewelry
You know the saying… Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue! With classic blue as the color of the year, I know I’m going to love photographing wedding details and heirloom jewelry with touches of blue. These little details are always understated yet beautiful!
4) Paper Goods
Paper goods are, honestly, one of the easiest places for couples to incorporate the Pantone color of the year in next year’s wedding season. I mean, think classic blue envelopes or inserts, classic blue calligraphy, and even classic blue insert cards. This is an understated AND classic way to incorporate the Pantone color of the year if that’s your thing!
5) Bridesmaids Dresses
We all know how gorgeous a navy blue dress can be! I think we might see a slight shift from deep navy to classic blue bridesmaids dresses in 2020.
6) Engagement Sessions
And last, but not least, I’m excited to hopefully see more of this color in engagement sessions throughout the 2020 wedding season. I could not love a classic blue suit or flowy dress at an engagement session more!
Cheers to incorporating touches of classic blue throughout the 2020 wedding season!
