It’s our wedding anniversary… Today marks nine years of marriage for Kyle and me!
Our wedding day was a cloudy 70-something-degree day – June 7, 2014. What I don’t remember? I don’t remember stressing over the weather, wedding week jitters, last-minute to-do’s, or hair and makeup.
Here’s what I do remember – I remember a handful of moments from our wedding day vividly. I remember seeing my husband for the first time at the altar, becoming his wife, and celebrating our young love. We chose each other long before that June day as high school sweethearts. But on that June day that we got married, we committed to continue to choose each other for all of our days. And since that day, we have continued to choose one another every day since. There are days and seasons when marriage isn’t easy, but we choose each other and share a deep love and respect for one another. We thank God for one another, for the chance to spend another day together, and for the life we’re building hand in hand.
Throughout the past year of our marriage, we’ve found an immeasurable amount of joy in the small moments together. From taking countless walks where we dream together and sharing meals & trying new recipes together to praying together and gardening in the backyard. The small moments have been so good to us this year. Looking back on those small moments makes me smile.
I’m proud of us – two high school sweethearts that met and started dating at 14 and 16 – and the life we’re building together. I wouldn’t want to share life with anyone else!
Tonight calls for cooking a fancy dinner together (chef’s kiss to the delish reverse-seared steaks Kyle spoils me with!) and cheers-ing to nine years with a bottle of Veuve. Love you most, Kyle!
And in true Kara fashion on our anniversary, here’s a fun recap of our past year of marriage!
