Happy Thursday! I’m thrilled to share this beautiful wedding day with you today!
Last summer, I first connected with Lisa and Mark as they started searching for an engagement and wedding photographer. When I first heard their story and got to know them, I instantly knew that these two were madly in love and that Lisa and Mark had equally found themselves the perfect match. Mark is kind, caring, and always there for Lisa. These two are the sweetest together!
These two met through mutual friends while Lisa was living in Ohio and Mark was living in Michigan but working in Ohio. After spending some time long-distance in their relationship, they made the move back to Illinois where Mark grew up and bought a house, and then Mark proposed to Lisa in October 2016 (a complete surprise to Lisa at the local river park just down the road from their home)! What an exciting past couple of years it’s been for this couple! You can see their engagement photo session here, too.
At the start of this wedding day, Kyle and I arrived to BJ Grand Salon and Spa in Springfield to so many excited bridesmaids and the beautiful bride, Lisa. The salon was the perfect place for their hair and makeup appointments to take place, and everyone could relax and enjoy the morning together. Soon enough, it was time to travel to the venue to start rolling into the afternoon and first look!
As Lisa and Mark started planning their wedding day, they told me that they were focusing on a simple yet elegant style. They chose to have the ceremony and reception take place at Erin’s Pavilion in Springfield, IL, a location where all of their out-of-town guests could easily attend and celebrate alongside them. And their ivory, blush, navy, and gray colors married with eucalyptus were the perfect tones for a lovely March wedding day! So simple yet lovely.
I loved Lisa and Mark’s first look… Wait until you see that smile and emotion on his face. So, so beautiful and telling of their love! After their beautiful first look, we traveled to downtown Springfield (yep, just missed the St. Patrick’s Day crowds – yay!) for urban bridal party photos. I LOVE these photos! Wintertime was still lingering on this wedding day, so I love how the downtown city textures brought warmth and beauty to the backdrops of these photos. Plus, Lisa and Mark were surrounded by their siblings and closest friends from high school and college with their bridal party.
Soon after photos wrapped up, Lisa and Mark shared a chilly yet beautiful outdoor ceremony at Erin’s with their loved ones and friends. One of my favorite details of this wedding day was the ruby ring Lisa wore down the aisle – her Grandma’s ruby ring. What a beautiful sentiment! And another one of my favorite details of this day was the surprise video message viewing that Mark’s younger brother arranged with their friend that is currently deployed. My heart!
This wedding day was all about celebrating Lisa and Mark’s love and the beginning our lives together with their family and friends… Love, love, love!
Lisa and Mark – Thank you for trusting us on your wedding day! I am so thankful to know you both, hugs!
