Some sessions hold a special place in my heart, and this newborn session with the Spry family was one of them!
Just before Valentine’s Day, they welcomed their second baby and sweet girl, Kallin, into the world. Their little Valentine. And truly, there couldn’t be a more fitting description for this long-awaited gift. Kallin has been prayed for for many years. Through every high and low of their IVF journey, this family held onto hope. These are the kinds of moments that remind me why I’ve loved this job for so long.
Big brother Knoxley is completely smitten. You can already see that protective, loving big brother role settling in. Watching families grow like this never gets old for me.
While most of my newborn sessions now take place in my natural light studio in downtown Kankakee, this in-home session truly felt like such a full-circle moment. I’ve been photographing the Sprys since 2015, back when they were a young couple dating and dreaming about what their future might hold. Since then, I’ve captured their engagement, wedding day, anniversaries, maternity seasons, newborn babies, and so many milestones in between.
That is the greatest gift of this work. It’s not just about one session. My work is about walking alongside families through chapter after chapter. It’s about documenting the quiet beginnings and the answered prayers. And most of all, it’s about building relationships that span over a decade and counting.
To the Spry family – thank you for trusting me all these years. Thank you for inviting me into your home to document this beautiful new chapter. Kallin is so deeply loved, and your story is such a testament to faith, perseverance, and joy.
