Just two weeks ago, I LOVED meeting Hannah and Jake for their engagement session around Champaign, Illinois. These two are as sweet as pie, and I’m sure you’ll agree by the time you’ve finished reading this blog post and looked through their photos…
Hannah and Jake are high school sweethearts – EEEK! Love stories of high school sweethearts time and time again have a special place in my heart since my hubby and I are high school sweethearts ourselves. These two met when they were 14 and 15 right before going into high school. Once school started, Hannah had Spanish class with her best friend, and of course, Jake. Plus, he was in the same friend circle, so Hannah would see him from time to time outside of school and class. And as homecoming neared and Hannah started crushing on Jake, she was so surprised to find a fortune cookie on her desk from Jake asking her to homecoming… How sweet! Then, a couple months after homecoming, Hannah and Jake hit it off again at a Halloween party and started dating that very night. Ever since then, they two have grown into love. These two are best friends, and I think their love story truly says just that!
Then, this past spring, Jake surprised Hannah by proposing to her after breakfast and hiking at this family’s cabin. Hannah told me the thought crossed her mind that Jake *might* propose when they arrived at the cabin, but she quickly pushed the thought from her mind. As they took a walk around the pond and into the woods, they carried on a conversation about nearly everytihg under the sun, and finally Jake got down on one knee and proposed! Afterwards, they celebrated with family, and these two told me that it was hands down one of the best weekend of their lives!
Hannah and I connected this spring through one of my past brides, Logan, so I knew I already loved Hannah as soon as she reached out! We quickly moved forward with chatting via email, phone call, and text, and we were both eager to get to meet in person at their summer engagement session!
The day of Hannah and Jake’s engagement session started off quite dreary, but we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening and sunset in Champaign. The humidity after the day’s rain storms left an eerily beautiful mist on the horizon at sunset… Gosh, this was one of the most unique sunsets I’ve seen! Plus, my favorite part of this session was how Hannah and Jake chose such important locations to them… The high school where their love story started and where they shared their first kiss AND Jake’s family’s secluded property where they got engaged. As their photographer, it was so special to photograph these two in such a meaningful locations.
