Morgan and Joe’s wedidng day showed the first signs of fall in the light and trees! They were blessed with a beautiful September day for their wedding at Trinity Lutheran and the Northfield Inn in Springfield. We’re excited to share more about their day on the blog!
From the Couple
Morgan and Joe met at mutual friends’ wedding in 2018. Morgan knew the bride through a mutual friend and Joe was in the wedding party for the groom. Neither of them expected to find their forever person when they went that weekend.
They talked for about three months before Morgan agreed to date Joe. She grew up in the country in Central Illinois and he was not only from Chicago but is a Chicago Firefighter. She didn’t think it would work since they were from so far apart and she wasn’t a fan of the city, but he ended up winning her over and love can make you do things you never thought you would. They haven’t stopped talking since that day, and they’d like to think it was meant to be and that his mom who has passed had a little something to do with it.
Last year, Morgan had no idea a proposal was coming and was taken completely by surprise! Joe wasn’t worried about if she would say yes; his goal was to catch her by surprise and you could say “mission accomplished”! After she got over the shock and said ‘yes’, they hugged and Joe said ‘gotcha’.
The day started out normal, Morgan went to church with her family, while Joe and her dad got set up for lunch. After church Morgan changed clothes, Joe knew she’d regret that but she didn’t know what was coming so he couldn’t say anything. Then her cousins put on a skit for their Papa’s birthday (or so Morgan thought). Each cousin turned around one by one, each with a mask on with a word on it: Will… You… Marry… At this point Morgan was still oblivious, so Joe told her to turn around. When she saw him on one knee, she finally figured out what was going on! Morgan was in such shock, her Grandma had to prompt her to answer, and of course, the answer was yes!
The Wedding Day
Morgan and Joe’s wedding day started out with sunshine, warm temps, and a little breeze – it was a little toasty outside but a perfect day! In the morning, Morgan got ready at her parents’ home while Joe got ready at the hotel. The morning was smooth sailing and everyone was ahead of schedule – that hardly ever happens on wedding days but we love when it does!
After Morgan shared a sweet reveal with her dad, we traveled to downtown Springfield for pre-ceremony photos at the capitol. Joe envisioned a traditional wedding day and wanted to see Morgan for the first time down the aisle, so we made sure they didn’t see each other before the ceremony. You could feel the excitement and anticipation building!
Morgan and Joe shared a lovely ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Springfield surrounded by their loved ones. After the ceremony, we photographed their newlyweds with their families, and then it was time for some wedding party photo fun!
Our next stop was Lincoln Park for wedding party and couples photos. Lincoln Park was the perfect spot to bring their classic wedding theme with jewel tones to life. The light was PERFECT and made for the most beautiful photos of Morgan, Joe, and their wedding party. Everyone braved the heat (with no complaints!), and we had a lot of fun! The sunset photos we captured of Morgan and Joe are so dreamy and romantic. I love it!
Then, it was time to celebrate! Morgan and Joe planned an evening of fun and dancing at the Northfield Inn in Springfield. We loved documenting Morgan and Joe’s newlywed bliss and excitement throughout the evening. These two are so sweet!
