Happy dancing as I’m overjoyed to share our last wedding of 2019 on the blog! Meet Brittany and Nic – the sweetest couple ever at their Naperville wedding!
I connected with these two just a few months prior to their wedding through one of my brides, Sarah, and I’m so thankful she connected us! Brittany and Nic are deeply rooted in their faith and a hardworking couple that loves their tribe deeply. It’s an honor to call them part of our wedding family!
From the Bride
We have mutual friends that introduced us through work. Nic and I first met when he came to run a cheerleading clinic when I was the head coach at Hinsdale Central High School. Nic and I were in previous relationships when we first met. About a year later, we reconnected when we were both single and the rest is history!
Nic completely surprised me with the entire proposal and plans after. He told me we were going out to dinner with some of his co-workers. I went thinking it was a regular night out with his friends. When we arrived, the hostess escorted us to the winery’s outdoor patio – it was completely decorated and he romanticly got on one knee before I even figured out what was going on. After I said “yes” he took me to meet up with my parents at a different restaurant. Turns out that my close friends and family were waiting there to surprise me and celebrate the proposal with us (I thought just my parents would be there).
Nic is the yin to my yang. He fills every quality that I lack and always encourages me to be my best self. The foundation of our relationship is built on shared core values and beliefs. Nic and I consider each other a best friend. We both enjoy cheerleading, working out, and watching movies. We both enjoy traveling, and Nic travels a lot for work. Due to our crazy schedules, we thoroughly appreciate spending chill nights together at home with the dogs. Nic and I are both very hardworking and focused on helping one another reach our career goals. Nic recently landed a promotion within his business that requires significant change for both of us. We look forward to starting our new life together as we are relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee after the wedding.
The Wedding Day
Brittany and Nic’s wedding day brought another nearly 60-degree December day – wow! Kyle and I anticipated both our December wedding days to be freezing cold, but they were not at all! We started the day at Brittany’s parents’ house where the girls were getting ready. I love how their home is tucked into a woodsy area of a quiet neighborhood. And Brittany’s mom still had her gorgeous Christmas decor up – loved it! As the girls finished getting ready, Kyle met up with the guys at Hotel Indigo in Naperville where they were getting ready. Before we knew it, it was time to get these two married!
I loved Brittany and Nic’s ceremony. These two are deeply rooted in their faith. I love that they chose to get married at the church Brittany grew up attending. The church has been part of her family through life’s hills and valleys over the years, and it was a true joy to document her wedding ceremony there.
After the ceremony, we loaded up the bridal party and traveled to the Naperville Riverwalk before this crew celebrated the night away. I’ve loved past sessions and visits to the Naperville Riverwalk, and this time was no exception! It’s such a gorgeous location, especially when it’s transformed with lights and holiday spirit in the wintertime. We were racing daylight for these portraits, but I wouldn’t have them any other way. Brittany, Nic, and their bridal party were amazing to work with and up for anything! Then, it was time for bride and groom portraits along the riverwalk.
As we ended photos, nightfall was upon us and some of my favorite portraits are on Water Street outside of their venue – Elements at Water Street. There’s just something about those photos! Winter light holds a unique kind of beauty, and I love how the season challenges me as a photographer. Plus I’ve gotta say, it helps when you’re working with an amazing couple like Brittany and Nic, too!
While the bridal party freshened up after photos, Kyle and I loved exploring the venue and taking detail photos. It’s such a timeless, gorgeous space and fit perfectly with Brittany and Nic’s wedding vision. Their style incorporated romantic vibes with warm tones, greenery, burgundy, and gold. When it came to their wedding style, Brittany told me this… “The time of year has guided my planning decisions. The time between Christmas and New Years has always intrigued me because family gets together, the Christmas lights are still up, etc. I want to capture all the romantic, warm, fuzzy feels.” And I think their Naperville wedding was all of that and more!
As this wedding day wrapped up for us, I was simply thankful for this couple! Thankful they shared their Naperville wedding day with us. Thankful we were able to document such a happy day with their families coming together. And thankful for a beautiful end to our 2019 season.
Brittany + Nic – Thank you for trusting us as your wedding photographers! We loved getting to know you two and can’t wait to see which wedding photos are your favorites!
