Maggie and Alex’s elegant summer wedding day at Stan Mansion is one for the books!
We’re so excited to share this wedding day on the blog! You might remember these two from their Cantigny Park engagement session last fall. Maggie and Alex have been planning their wedding day for going on two years… Between the pandemic and a reschedule, they’re finally MARRIED!
From the Couple
We met when Alex was visiting a mutual friend here in Chicago. In 2019, Alex asked my girlfriends to take me out for the day and keep me occupied while he said he had to get some work done at home. While my girlfriends kept me distracted with shopping, Alex decorated our back deck. When I came back, the back deck was decorated with candles and string lights, and Alex was waiting there with our two dogs and a ring!
I (Maggie) am a pharmacist and Alex works in corporate finance. When we can, we love to travel and would love to see the world! Our trips are usually planned around our food adventures – we love to eat. We enjoy exploring the outdoors as much as finding ourselves lost in another city. Every night, we love cuddling up with our two dogs and unwinding after each day.
The Wedding Day
Maggie and Alex’s wedding day started with getting ready at Stan Mansion. This was our first wedding (of hopefully more!) at Stan Mansion, and we were immediately in love with the old greystone building. We can definitely see how Maggie and Alex’s love for old greystone buildings came to life at this 100-year-old venue!
For this wedding day, Maggie and Alex planned a Chinese + Western fusion wedding day with touches from both cultures throughout the day. And we loved it!
Once the girls were finished getting ready, Kyle and I made our way downstairs at Stan Mansion to meet up with Alex. Then, it was time for Chinese door games! This was also our first wedding experience of Chinese door games – they were a hoot and so fun to experience and photograph!
Before we knew it, door games with the wedding party were wrapping up and it was time for Maggie and Alex to share the first look. I loved photographing their intimate first look on the stairs at Stan Mansion before hitting the city for photos. Our first stop for photos was the Wrigley Building (always a favorite!). Our second stop for photos was Milton Lee Olive Park (another fav!). Both locations were as beautiful as ever and perfectly fitting for Maggie and Alex’s elegant Chicago wedding day.
Then, it was time to travel back to Stan Mansion to get these two married! They’ve been waiting for what seems like so long to officially be united in marriage, and we were honored to witness and document that very moment in Maggie and Alex’s story together. They shared a beautiful ceremony that was officiated by their dear friend, Eric. It was perfect.
After the ceremony, everyone made their way to Furama Restaurant in Chinatown for a dinner reception. We loved how Maggie and Alex chose to incorporate a traditional Chinese banquet dinner for their reception. It was delicious AND once again, perfect for these two!
One of my favorite parts of this wedding day was when Alex changed into a red Chinese jacket and Maggie changed into her red Chinese dress – gosh, it was gorgeous! It was so fun to sneak out for sunset photos in their traditional Chinese attire. Love, love, love!
At the end of this wedding day, we were thankful to photograph Maggie and Alex with their loved ones all day long. They shared a lovely wedding day with friends and family, and it was a joy to see all their loved ones together!
