Yay, happy day! You wedding day is FINALLY here! The flowers that you’ve been dreaming of are actually in your hands! Now… What the heck do you do with them?! You’ve gotta keep those puppies alive and hydrated throughout the day so they look their best during pictures and all day long. Not to worry! That’s why I’m here to guide you through how to best treat and care for your flowers on your wedding day!

PRO TIP: Did you know that the best way to hold your bouquet is not up and down like we most often see? Rather, hold it with the flowers facing out and the stems touching your belly button or lower tummy. Note that the pins on your bouquet indicate the backside and should be facing toward you.

Here are a few tips on caring for your flowers throughout your wedding day…

  • Try to keep your flowers out of direct sunlight and in water as much as possible. This goes for any boutonnieres or corsages as well.
  • If possible, try to keep your flowers in a dark or cool room until you’re ready to use them. However, do not place your flowers near an air conditioner or fan as this can cause wilting and or bruising.
  • Do not place your flowers in a food or drink refrigerator. Those appliances are not made for your delicate flowers.
  • Make sure to completely dry off all stems and ribbons before handling the flowers for any photos or events.
  • Have vases ready filled with water and ready for you to drop your bouquet into once you are done using it.
  • Wanting to enjoy those flowers in the days after the event? Simply give the stems a fresh cut at a sharp angle and put them in cool, fresh water.

PRO TIP: Have extra rolls of paper towels nearby to dry off them stems of your bouquets when you’re ready to use them. Water dripping down your dress is not cute for those gorgeous photos you’re about to take!

And that’s about it! Now, you have all the tools you need to handle your precious flowers with care so they look their best all throughout your wedding day.
