On the evening of June 1, 2017, I was sitting in a hospital waiting room waiting for the news alongside two other family members and friends, Lisa and Ashlie. After only a short time in the waiting room, I received a message that read “It’s a girl!”… As soon as I read the message, tears started streaming down my face, and I jumped out of my seat grabbing Ashlie as we had to tell Lisa who had stepped out for a moment. As soon as we saw her – Grandma Lisa, now – I hugged her and yelled “It’s a girl!”… We were all ecstatic, in tears, and so, so happy to welcome beautiful little Anna Pixley Wilson into the world.

On that day, I became an auntie to Anna! A sweet little lady. All throughout my sister-in-law Deidre’s pregnancy (see the maternity session here), I guessed that she was carrying a boy. Every time I saw her, I told her that I just had a feeling it was a boy… And BOY was I WRONG! It was incredible to see the anticipation, everyone’s guesses, and ultimately, the biggest surprise reveal when the baby was born throughout this journey! And only a couple hours after she was born, I got to meet + snuggle this precious little girl and hug her momma. What a wonderful blessing and moment for our family to experience!

You all know that it’s not often that I photograph newborn babes, but when your sister-in-law has her first child and becomes a mommy… Of course you make an exception! Hey, it’s always okay to break your own rules sometimes! And Anna Pixley’s birth was an absolutely perfect reason to break my own rules 🙂

Over the last few weeks since Anna’s birth, Kyle and I have loved snuggling, holding, and cuddling Miss Anna Pixley, and we cannot wait to watch her grow up! She is as sweet as can be, and we are thankful to call her our niece.
