My, oh my, and I happy to share this wedding day with you! You probably remember Jordyn and Tom’s story from their engagement session at their alma mater last fall, and yes, now today I’m sharing their WEDDING DAY!
I still remember first meeting Jordyn during our days of undergrad at Illinois College… We first met at our weekly Bible study group on campus, and after our first conversation, I knew that Jordyn was an amazingly kindhearted and gracious woman. She was always a joy to be around while we attended IC together, so I was thrilled when we were able to later reconnect on the occasion of her upcoming wedding. I’m truly thankful for the relationships I have built and continue to build through IC – there’s always a special place in my heart for Illinois College and IC peeps!
And of course, getting to know Jordyn better in terms of her wedding meant learning so much more about this uniquely perfect love story… Jordyn and Tom met through the swim team at Illinois College where they were teammates together. There relationship started out as nothing more than friends, but by the end of their sophomore year of college, they realized they were spending almost all of their free time together. So, that May they made things official and began dating! Though going into the summer meant spending their days living four hours apart, they quickly knew that they had found their perfect match in each other. Long distance dating and relationships are challenging, but these two only allowed the distance to make their relationship grow stronger.
Then a few years later over Memorial Day weekend, Tom popped the question when Jordyn was visiting Illinois. He said, he said, “I know that you know we’re going to dinner with my family tonight, but I really want us all to go to dinner to celebrate together. Jordyn will you marry me?” All the heart eyes. So then, of course, they celebrated the exciting news with his family!
I love how deeply these two are rooted faith and family. Their love is sweet and simple, and they are so perfect for one another. There is just something about how they look at each other and talk to each other that tells you that their love is so strong. I am SO excited for them to experience marriage together!
Their wedding day was nothing short of their dreams! What started as a warm August day outside of Indy with the girls giggling while getting ready and oohing and aahing as Jordyn dressed in her mother’s remade wedding gown turned into a gorgeous evening with a glowing sunset at The Barn at Crystal Spring Farm. And everything in between from their emotional first look and reading letters to their beautiful ceremony at Jordyn’s country church to the heartfelt toasts at the reception… Jordyn and Tom always envisioned a Christ-centered ceremony and laid-back barn celebration, and this day was perfectly their style! Oh, what a beautiful day!
And all throughout documenting this wedding day, the love and celebration and thoughts of Jordyn’s brother were in everyone’s hearts even though he couldn’t be there to celebrate due to his deployment. This absolutely makes my job so surreal (and reminds me why I do what I do) in the sense that these photos will help Jordyn’s brother relive his sister’s wedding day memories.
Jordyn + Tom… Your wedding day was spectacular! Thank you for sharing your story and your love with me at such an exciting time in your life together! Wishing you many years of wedding bliss!
