There were most definitely tears when I revisited + edited this session after shooting it…

It’s not often that I voluntarily photograph newborns, but I’m learning that sometimes it’s okay to break your own rules when your best friends from college welcome their first child, a sweet baby girl, into the world!

Throughout the past five or so years, I have gotten to know Caleb and Amanda so well and our friendship has grown immensely. I first met them through my husband Kyle at college (like even before I was a student at IC and came to visit Kyle on campus), and of course, Amanda and I instantly clicked and became best friends. We’ve laughed together, cried together, and both of these two were in our wedding. They say that your college friends are your friends for life, and Kyle and I wholeheartedly believe this! 

Since meeting and befriending them, I have become their photographer of sorts. I was there to secretly document their proposal on a beach in Mississippi, their engagement session, their summer wedding day, family photos after adopting a puppy, maternity photos while waiting on their daughter’s arrival, and most recently, an in-home lifestyle session after Charlee’s birth. Following their love story, watching them grow together, and documenting these big parts of their life together has been such an honor, especially through the tender lens of love and friendship.

Amanda and Caleb are amazing parents. And you guys, I look up to Amanda so much! She was a strong, kick booty pregnant lady, and Caleb supported her every step of the way. When I heard that she was in labor, I cried… And when I heard the news + saw a photo of their baby girl, tears streamed down my face. This is the good stuff. This is an unbelievable facet of friendship and life and love and the future. The love that pours out of Amanda and Caleb (and Teddy) toward their daughter is undeniably beautiful.
