Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | The Laurence Family

It’s not often that I photograph in-home newborn sessions, but there are a few clients that hold such a special place in my heart. And since I’m the one who makes the rules around here, I kinda get to break them sometimes, too. The Laurence family is absolutely one of those exceptions!

I have so much love for this family. I still remember photographing their engagement photos in a very quiet downtown Chicago in the summer of 2020, then celebrating with them again the next summer for their Chicago wedding day. Since then, they’ve welcomed Liam and now little Callum into their family. Being invited back to photograph both of their boys as newborns means the world to me.

And it doesn’t stop there! I also photographed Johnny’s sister’s wedding last year, so truly, the Laurence family feels like family to me. Walking into their home for this session felt more like visiting friends than showing up for work.

If you’re preparing for a newborn session of your own, here’s my biggest piece of advice: feed the baby right before photos begin. If you can, give them a full feed within the half hour of the session start time. It almost always makes all the difference in the flow of the session and helps us capture those sweet, sleepy newborn moments everyone loves.
