Spring engagement sesions are in full swing, and I’m loving it. This riverwalk and Milton Lee Olive Park engagement is one for the books!

Meet Shelby & Tim! These two found my work through a friend on Instagram last year, and we hit it off from the start. They’ve been together for five years and are planning their dream wedding at Adler Planetarium for next spring. We’re honored to document their special day!

Shelby and Tim met at work. They tell me that life together is so fun and that they couldn’t imagine life without each other! Last year, Tim proposed to Shelby on a boat on the Chicago River. Afterwards, he surprised Shelby with all of their closest friends and family joining them on the boat to celebrate while cruising down the river.

Over the past few months, we’ve been planning Shelby and Tim’s Chicago engagement photos. It’s no secret that we’ve had a chilly and rainy spring, so it likely won’t come as a surprise that we had to use Shelby and Tim’s scheduled rain date for photos. On the original date of their session, it was terribly cold, windy, and rainy… No, thanks! So, we opted to use their rain date, and we’re SO GLAD we did. On the day of their Chicago engaement session – just one week later and on Tim’s birthday (he’s the best sport!) – it was 80 something, sunny, and gorgeous in Chicago. We lucked out!

We met at the Chicago Theatre to start the session and then wandered around the riverwalk before heading to the skyline. Shelby and Tim chose Milton Lee Olive Park as their second location for skyline photos, and it’s truly one of my favorite skyline photo spots.

Shelby and Tim were easy going and fun all throughout their session. We laughed, gushed over our dogs and mutual love for bubbly, and talked all things wedding. They’ve been photographed before, so they were naturals in front of the camera which made my job easy. We even had fun popping a bottle of Veuve along the skyline (ask me about the first pop and the belly laughs we shared, lol) for some romantic and playful photos, too.

Can’t wait for their wedding day at the Adler Planetarium in May 2023!
