Maria Paula and Mauricio’s wedding in Colombia was unlike any other wedding we’ve ever photographed! We’re so excited to recap their wedding day on blog!
Meet Maria Paula and Mauricio! If it weren’t for my sister and brother-in-law meeting at Disney over a decade ago, we wouldn’t be connected to this amazing couple. Maria Paula is my brother-in-law Sebastian’s younger sister, so we’re thankful that we’ve gotten to know her over the years. Maria Paula and Mauricio have dated for several years and got engaged last year! They planned the most beautiful wedding outside of Bogotá, Colombia at Hacienda San Sebastian Rosal.
A few days before the wedding, we arrived in Colombia as excited as can be for Maria Paula and Mauricio’s wedding day! We love celebrating couples in love leading up to, on, and beyond their wedding days… Getting to do that at a destination (for us!) is the icing on the cake! We were grateful to spend a little extra time with family in Colombia before and after their wedding day, too.
The Wedding Day
On the day of Maria Paula and Mauricio’s wedding day, we were blessed with the most beautiful November weather in Colombia! The skies were clear of rain and the air was in the mid 60’s during the day. Setting foot on the property at Hacienda San Sebastian Rosal was truly surreal. It’s a venue that dreams are made of. Maria Paula and Mauricio’s wedding vision came together perfectly!
Maria Paula and Mauricio got ready on-site at the venue before sharing a romantic and sweet first look. I loved seeing their nerves diminish as soon as they saw each other and documenting their joy and love for one another. Wait until you see the photos of this sweet moment! I still can’t help but smile while looking at those photos and remembering that moment.
Throughout the afternoon, we explored Hacienda San Sebastian Rosal for portraits of the couple and their families. Then, it was time for Maria Paula and Mauricio to share a wedding ceremony. Their ceremony took place in a greenhouse space on the venue’s property that was gorgeous. The beautiful ceremony focused on this couple and their love and commitment for each other – we were all teary-eyed throughout those moments!
One of my favorite parts of the day was getting to see our niece, Sofia, walk down the aisle as a flower girl for the first time – she rocked! We loved catching up and seeing people that have become our family over the years. We also loved seeing all of the decor and floral elements come together at the venue. The freshly grown flowers from Colombia created some of the most beautiful floral installations we’ve seen over the past years of weddings. And we LOVED seeing gorgeous flower petals tossed during their ceremony exit – some of my favorite wedding photos ever! Every detail was stunning and perfect for Maria Paula and Mauricio!
After the ceremony, we got to experience and document our first wedding celebration in Colombia, and we loved it! It was a joy to document familiar traditions and new traditions (to us!) throughout the evening. We especially loved Maria Paula and Mauricio’s sparkler first dance before everyone (including little Sofia!) danced the night away!
