Spring wedding season kicked off a few weeks ago with Kim and Josh! We absolutely loved photographing their elegant Greenhouse Loft wedding day. One of our favorite venues!!
You likely remember these two from their beautiful Chicago skyline engagement session this past winter! Ever since their session, I’ve been oh so excited for their spring wedding day. These two are the best and their love for one another shows just that and more!
From The Couple
We were set up by a mutual friend and went on a blind double date last January and hit it off. From there, we started dating and got very close very fast especially since COVID prevented us from doing anything with anyone else. Josh proposed the first weekend in November in Lincoln Park. Then, he had friends back at Kim’s place to add to the surprise.
We have a puppy named Phoebe we adopted in October 2020 and are obsessed. We enjoy traveling, checking out local breweries, spending time outdoors, and staying active together.
The Wedding Day
Kim and Josh’s wedding day started at the most beautiful location – The Hotel at Midtown. This was our first time at the hotel, and we hope to be back soon! The girls were getting ready in the penthouse while the guys got ready just a few doors down. It was the perfect place for getting ready and before we knew it, it was time for the first look! What’s funny is this – we ran ahead of schedule most of the morning (which went into the afternoon and evening, too – yay!). Kim said it was perfectly fitting for her… Always ahead of schedule – I love that we could make a girl’s dreams come true even on her wedding day!
After the first look on the penthouse balcony and photos at The Hotel at Midtown, the couple, their wedding party, and Kyle and I loaded a fun trolley to head to the Wrigley Building for photos. We were thankful that the rainy forecast lifted for clouds and some sun on this day… It couldn’t have come together better than that! One of the most amazing benefits of a Sunday wedding in the spring was this – we were the only wedding party at the Wrigley Building! And let me tell you, that’s hard to come by on popular wedding weekends in the city. All the stars aligned for this day!
When wedding photos wrapped up downtown, we traveled to the venue, Greenhouse Loft, for a few more photos and to get these two married! They shared an intimate ceremony with their home church pastor and 50 closest family members and friends. They were surrounded by lovely window light, music, and their love for one another. Kyle and I were moved in the moments when Kim and Josh shared communion and prayer with one another followed by prayer with their parents during the ceremony… It was beautiful and emotional, and I would be lying if I said there weren’t tears running down my face behind my camera!
Once these two were married, it was time to celebrate! We loved seeing their elegant wedding style come together in their venue decor at the reception. It brought the stunning florals, succulents, greenery, and neutral vibes together for a gorgeous greenhouse-style wedding… Love, love, love! And you can probably guess that I LOVED the ouches of gold and mauve throughout their decor, too!
At the end of the day, we couldn’t have imagined a better start to our spring (and summer) wedding season than Kim and Josh’s wedding day! These two are the real deal and love each other so well. We’re cheering them on in marriage and couldn’t be happier that they found each other!
Kim + Josh – Thank you for trusting us to photograph your wedding day! We adore you both and wish you the most beautiful marriage together!!
