Wow, happy July – we’re officially past the halfway mark of 2020!
June is my very favorite month. Always has been, probably always will be! It marks our anniversary and the start of summer – my very favorite season!
The month started out with un-learning, listening, watching, learning, acting, reading (ask me what I’m reading – happy to share!), and so much more at the height of the BLM movement. Kyle and I leaned into our community and attended a local drive-in rally with friends. What an eye-opening, encouraging experience. We have to start somewhere right now – at our dinner tables, in our communities, and within our workplaces. I started to look at my business from a different perspective and am doing the work with my friend Crystal’s openness, encouragement, and guidance. I don’t have all the answers (nor will I ever), but it’s not my turn to talk. Right now and forever, I must listen and learn and act so that I can love and live and be better. I am growing and loving, and I’m committed to just that in my life and business!
As the month started full speed ahead, Kyle and I celebrated our SIXTH wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe we’ve already been married for six years, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! To celebrate our anniversary, we enjoyed a pool day with the puppies followed by sushi. Things looked a lot different than they did on June 7, 2014!
Then it was off to the races of sessions after sessions after sessions! June was my first month back taking sessions due to coronavirus shutdowns. It was so very good for my soul to be back out shooting. I enjoyed spending time with my 2020-2021 couples at engagement sessions, catching up with past couples at anniversary sessions, and even photographing a next chapter milestone for one of our couples, too!
The middle of the month brought lots of beautiful summer evenings to enjoy our newly built pergola and mojitos – our favorite! We watched our garden really start to grow and flourish before our eyes, too. It’s so fun to see the labor of love grow and produce a plentiful harvest. I love gardening with Kyle!
Throughout June, I stayed on top of workouts with my bestie, Autumn, and even got back into the swing of morning W’s (aka walks) with Georgie and Jett. We walk, enjoy the morning sunshine, and jam out to worship music at the park down the street from our house. Feels so good!
As the month started to draw to a close, we spend some time on the lake with friends and spent a weekend at home working on projects. I even finished painting our front deck and stoop! Homeownership will ALWAYS have projects… I’m 100% convinced of that!
June was a good month of perspective and testament to loving those in our lives and communities. I want more months like that – plus a little sunshine and summertime never hurts either!
