A few months ago, I wrapped up reading #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso, and I think now is the perfect time to share my thoughts on this read!
First off (and before I get into the book), I think it’s incredibly encouraging that so many female small business owners and entrepreneurs are being encouraged through community, personal development books, life + business coaching, conferences, webinars, and MORE in today’s world. We rise by lifting others, and this movement is exactly what I am seeing AND experiencing with so many female entrepreneurs in my life and beyond!
So, of course with this mindset, I ordered Sophia Amoruso’s book #GIRLBOSS and jumped right in… Right away, I loved Sophia’s demeanor. She’s a no BS, give it to ya like it is kind of gal. I LOVED this aspect of her story and writing, and I think this sort of tough love and struggle is important to recognize because we all have and need a little bit of both. This girl encouraged without omitting the messy, less glorified moments in her story… And I think this can be a lesson for us all whether we’re years into our business or building it from the ground up in the first months.
Own it, be you, and WORK HARD.
My biggest takeaway from this book is that YOU – as a female entrepreneur or small business owner – YOU define your own success on your very own – unique to you – terms. There will be struggle, there will be times where you want to give up, but that’s the beauty of defining success in your own way as part of your journey. It’s okay to find beauty in the struggle and harder moments because those moments and experiences are what allow you to grow and learn and serve in the way you are meant to in this life. Trust your gut, take risks when you can, and work hard – just a little encouragement I received from #GIRLBOSS myself!
Girlfriends, go pick up this read if you haven’t already!
