This wedding day was a fairytale! I’m excited to share Antonia and John’s elegant wedding day at Cog Hill on the blog!
Antonia and John have been planning their wedding day for 2.5 years! Antonia is a photographer herself and found my work on Pinterest shortly after getting engaged – I love it. So I’m sure you can guess that I’ve been looking forward to this very wedding day for what seems like so long!
These two have been through a longer than planned engagement (see their engagement photos here!), two postponements, and planning a wedding during a pandemic… But guess what?! They’re finally married and had the most fairytale-like wedding day at the end of it all! We’re so happy that these two are part of the married club now!
From the Bride
John and I were friends before we dated. We knew each other from mutual friends, and then started officially dating October of 2017. I can’t speak for John, but I knew he was the one right away. There was just something about him that made my heart want to burst open! He is kind and gentle. He makes me laugh with all the goofy stuff he says. John supports me to no end with all my passions and goals. He really just lets me be who I am unapologetically. He calls me beautiful every single day.
John proposed on the beach in Jamaica, and it was absolutely perfect. I had ZERO idea this was coming. I thought for sure it was going to be in 2019! We were in Jamaica for his 40th birthday, and we were walking up and down the beach. I just thought we were – walking up and down the beach – until he wrote our names in a sand heart and got down on one knee. It was so sweet. He said he was so nervous, and he is so glad it’s over!
We like to do the same things; explore new cities, travel to faraway destinations, try new foods and drinks, go to movies, concerts, and sporting events. We love being outside camping and fishing. John and I just love to be around each other and share in all these amazing experiences together. We talk all day long and send each other funny memes and GIFs. He is the peanut butter to my jelly, and I am so glad we crossed paths and God put him into my life when he did.
The Wedding Day
Antonia and John’s wedding day started with everyone getting ready at the hotel. Kyle and I loved arriving while everyone was getting ready and excitedly anticipating the day ahead. Soon I was photographing details (complete with Michaela Mantarian florals!) while Kyle took a few candids of the getting ready process. And let me tell you – we were in awe of the magic Deco Adamo was working! Some of the BEST glam I’ve ever photographed!
Before we knew it, it was time to get dressed and whisk the couple and wedding party off to Katherine Legge for photos. A few months ago, Antonia and John chose to add a first look to their wedding day, and I think we can all agree that it was the best decision. A few days after the wedding, Antonia shared this…
“I was really happy we chose to do a first look. It was hands down my favorite part of the day. As I walked up behind John, there was a baby shower nearby playing music — specifically at that moment it was “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding. It was beautiful. It was perfect. We shared the most amazing few minutes prior to our ceremony taking it all in while that song serenaded us like we were in our own romantic comedy movie. Songs always bring you back in time, and this song will ALWAYS remind me of that minute I saw my future husband for the first time. I will tear up every time thinking about it just like I did in that moment.”
Goosebumps, right?! It was perfect. After the first look and wedding party photos, we traveled to Farmington Lake for the wedding ceremony. Antonia and John shared a sunny ceremony alongside the lake. The best part of their ceremony? Their first kiss celebrated by a release of 12 doves – I love it!
These two were finally MARRIED! And it was time to celebrate! We took a few more photos at the ceremony site before traveling to their reception venue, Cog Hill. Antonia and John’s wedding vision truly came to life here. This was our first wedding at Cog Hill. The staff were amazing, welcoming, and accommodating. I’m thankful Antonia and John have had them in their corner throughout wedding planning over all these months!
And just before the reception kicked off, we snuck away for a few minutes of sunset photos – complete with a fun moment to enjoy a couple of donuts, too! Antonia and John got their gorgeous and beloved BOKEH for these photos… That sunset was perfect for this couple!
At the end of this day, we’re thankful for this couple. They’ve been through so much over the last 2.5 years, and they truly pulled off an amazing fairytale wedding day at Cog Hill!
Antonia & John – Thank you, thank you, thank you for trusting us to photograph your wedding day! We had a blast spending your special day alongside you and are in LOVE with your wedding photos!
