Where do I begin with these two?!
During my freshman year at Illinois College, I met Emily. You see, we were both Communication majors, and I always knew that I had a friend in her throughout our time together at IC... Fast forward a few years to the day of Emily's college graduation. Throughout all of the excitement of being a new grad ready for the future, Emily had even more excitement surprise her that day - her boyfriend Colt proposed and became her fiancé.
Just two days after their engagement, Emily contacted me about engagement and wedding photography. Having spent time with her during college, I knew Emily, and I was certain that she and Colt would be a wonderful couple to join the By Kara "wedding family". And, I was right! ;)
Leading up to Emily and Colt's session, I loved helping Emily plan outfits and brainstorm about their session. I wanted to make it everything that these two dreamed of, and I know all three of us had fun throughout the process! On the day of their session, we were all surprised by how beautiful, and I mean absolutely beautiful, that November day was. We could not have asked for a more lovely, warm, and colorful day.
Our session started at Colt's family farm. I loved riding through the back acres to photograph these two at various locations on the property. We laughed, talked and caught up, and enjoyed driving around the property. As we drove around and picked locations to stop, Colt and Emily told me about the cabin near the back of the land. When Colt was younger, he would camp out, spend time with friends, and enjoy the outdoors at the cabin. In high school, the cabin is where he asked Emily to be his girlfriend... So, of course, I had to take photos at the cabin! How sweet!
Next, we drove in to Jacksonville and started photos at the Illinois College campus. The morning light was beautiful at this time, and we had so much fun at this location! At the end of our session, we got a little silly and had a few more laughs... Go see below!
Emily and Colt - You two are near and dear to my heart, and I am so thankful to have you two as one of my couples. I cannot wait for your wedding day!
