Even before Deidre got engaged, I remember her saying that she wanted me to be her wedding photographer. Well, shortly after her December 2014 engagement to Howard, we were in the works with wedding photography!

Throughout the past seven years, I have had the opportunity to get to know Deidre, become friends, and become her sister-in-law, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. We’ve seen each other at some of the best times and some of the worst times, but no matter what, we are family – loving, supporting, and pushing one another to be more.

I always knew that Deidre wanted a destination wedding, and lucky for me, it was my first destination wedding as a guest and photographer! After getting all of the logistics sorted out, we, my husband/assistant/second-shooter Kyle and myself, had much anticipation for the wedding day of Deidre and Howard. We knew that the beautiful beach venue at Dreams Los Cabos would not disappoint in terms of photo, love, or the romantic feel of a wedding day.

On the morning of October 24th, the wedding day, Deidre and I spent a few minutes of the quiet morning on the beach for a few fitness photos (I’m sure if you ask her, she would love to share those with you!), and I enjoyed taking in those calm, quiet moments. It was a wonderful way to start the day, on the beach, enjoying the true beauty of the day together.

Shortly after, it was time to get ready – nails, hair, makeup – and ultimately start photos. It was a relaxed, laid back morning with Deidre and her girls in the bridal suite. I enjoyed being a fly on the wall while also laughing, chatting, and talking with family and friends.

My favorite part of the morning was when Lisa, a special person in all of our lives, took the time to give Deidre a meaningful gift. You see, the past year has been very difficult as we have said goodbye to two grandmothers in the family within a six month period. On the day before the wedding, Lisa showed me the gift in its completed state, and my husband and I were in pure awe. We knew Deidre would absolutely love it. So, on the morning of the wedding, yes, Deidre was completely shocked, in love, and flooded with emotion when Lisa gifted her a locket with both of her grandmothers’ photos in it. Even a month after the wedding, whenever I think of that moment or of the locket itself and see photos, I cannot help but burst into tears as I know how meaningful that small gift truly was… Both of Deidre’s grandmothers were with her on her wedding day. I’m sure you can imagine that there wasn’t a dry eye in the room during these moments.

Next, it was time to put on Deidre’s dress, start photos, and head to the ceremony. Everything started to unfold quickly and the time passed more quickly than I can believe. Soon enough, it was time for the early evening ceremony at the resort’s gazebo overlooking the beach. Immediately following the ceremony, Deidre and Howard toasted to one another with champagne (in true Deidre style!), and then I whisked them away for a few more photos and onto the reception they went.

The reception was filled with glitz, glam, and glitter, and everyone enjoyed dinner and conversation around a large “The Last Supper” style table. Family and friends danced the night away, but the day is an everlasting memory in all of our hearts.

I know that I can speak for both my husband and myself when I say that we truly loved witnessing these sweet moments throughout Deidre and Howard’s wedding day. Everything was light, joyful, and fun throughout the entire day. Love was truly in the air!

Deidre & Howard – We love you and are thankful to have photographed your wedding day! We hope that each time you look through the photos you are able to relive the day. XOXOX
